A visitor to llawera. during tile week end was Major 1). E. Jliemner, M.C., iN .Z.S.tt., who is nowJ in command or the Canterbury military district with Headquarters at, Christenureh, and was former Iv in charge ol the defence group in Thra.naki with headquarters at Hawera. Mrs H. Watts, who has been staying with Mrs Watts, sent-:, of Glenn Road, Kaupokonui, left by mail train this morning on her return to England. Prior to her departure Mrs Watts was the recipient of a travelling rug, the present of many friends who gathered together at the residence of Mns Watts, senr., to bid her goodbye. Mr A. Ward, of Okaiawa, made the presentation, and on behalf of those present wished Mrs Watts a pleasant voyage. Songs and dancing occupied the remainder of the evening.
