Winston Churchill) is expected to he able to present an optimistic Budget. Apart from the provision for relief rating, he will most likely rob the Labourites of their cry for a free breakfast table. The surplus is due partly to the improvement in business and partly to the death roll of millionaires.
The revenue for 1928-29 shows a surplus of £18,394,463. The surplus compares with the estimate of £14,502,009. The revenue was £858,104,055, the expenditure £682,200,158, and the sinking fund £57,509,434.
