A SURPLUS ANNOUNCED. Itjinirui Piv.-wt Association —By ielegiapn Copyright.) (Australian l* ress Association.) LONDON, March 30. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (the Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill) is expected to he able to present an optimistic Budget. Apart from the provision for relief rating, he will most likely rob the Labourites of their cry for a free breakfast table. The surplus is due partly to the improvement in business and partly to the death roll of millionaires.
The revenue for 1928-29 shows a surplus of £18,394,463. The surplus compares with the estimate of £14,502,009. The revenue was £858,104,055, the expenditure £682,200,158, and the sinking fund £57,509,434.
