Well, the historians and othei wise men who know all about ancient things, tell us that Ion" long ago, even before the birth of Christ, the people used to hold great festivals to welcome the “go spring, the forerunner of the productive season of the yeai. The occasion was celebrated by feasting and merrimei t, the lighting of bonfires and the eating of delicacies and so on.
