SENTENCED TO DEATH.

* JURY CONVICT’S ACCUSED. WIFE GIVEN POISONED CHOCOLATES. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, March 20. The sensational trial of Allister Clark on a charge of poisoning his wife while she was an inmate of the Coast Hospital concluded to-night at the Criminal Court. Evidence was given that Clark visited his wife at the hospital on many occasions and gave her chocolates, which, the Crown alleged, contained arsenic. His wife died and Clark a few days later remarried. The police had the first wife’s body exhumed and traces of arsenic were found in the stomach. Arsenic was also found in Clark’s pockets. Clark to-day swore lie was innocent. The jury, after many hours’ deliberation, found him guilty and lie was sentenced to death. The case excited great public interest.
