The racing Red Fuchsia is reeeivin in fiat events will fit him for the bi hurdle events that come up for decu ion early in winter. Mrs A. McDonald' has Elicit, Locarn and Red Fuchsia all well forward, an the best of the trio will- prove liar to beat in important jumping event ahead. Blackpool, a half brother to Locarnc ran quite a good race at Dannevirk last Wednesday. Last season Braeman gave indict tions of being a useful hurdler, bu subsequently he lost form and failed t make good. As he raced well at Dai nevirke last week, Braeman may yc make good. Propaganda was backed as if a certainty for the Maiden Plate at Dannevirke. He certainly pulled his backers through, but in a measure Propaganda’? success was partially due to good riding by R. Reed. Rowley, by his failure in the recently run Dannevirke Cup, disappointed a big army of supporters. On the second day of the meeting he raced up to his true form and duly won. That Locarno has more pace than generally credited with, he demonstrat cd when he beat a useful field to run second in the Dannevirke Cup, run last Wednesday. As Locarno jumps well it can be forecasted with confidence that a big hurdle race will fall to his lot before -the close of the current season. At one stage. Shot Silk was expected to do well at racing, but despite success at the Marlborough meeting, it does not appear as if Shot Silk is much good. Novar ran two solid races under his big handicap at the Dannevirke meeting, out had little chance with the improved Break o’ Day. Novar is sec at his best on a hard course, so h cliauce in the big hurdle races run du: ing the winter months will be affecte by soft tracks. Another match between Limerick an Aussie has been mooted in the Nort-I states the “Dominion,” and it is su{ gested that there is a possibility c the pair meeting in the Ormond Clip a the Ilaivkc's Bay meeting on April 1 and 20. The proposal was mentione to Mr 11. A. Knight this week, when li stated he had not seriously eonsidere the matter, as the Hastings race fo lowed too soon after the Randwic gathering. If everything goes we with hi s horse on the Sydney trip h will remain for the last day of the bi meeting to contest the A.J.C. Plaf and in that case it would not be deen ed advisable to rush him home aft£ the strenuous programme he will hay undergone. In any event, nothing wi be decided in regard to nominatin him until his Sydney plans are defh itcly arranged. 'On the other lian there is a chance of Limerick remaii ing in Australia to again contest tli King's Cup, which will this year b staged at Brisbane, and this trip won] be mll cli easier to undertake than llifi biii-li to New Zealand in the short, tim available before the Hawke’s Ba event. As before stated, however, A! Knight lias no desire to overwork hi champion, and present indications nr that the suggested return duel will in fortunately not be possible.
