GRIME IN NEW SOUTH WALES. SYDNEY, March 1. A serious increase in crime throughout the 'State is indicated in the annual report of Commissioner of .Police Mitchell. During I9dß there were 3409 offences against property with violence and 11,195 without violence, an increase of 388 and 638 respectively. Offences against good order numbered 57,289, an increase of 4334. The courts dealt with a total of 137,079 cases. Juvenile crime showed a serious increase. STRIKERS PAY NO RENTS. SYDNEY, March 1. It is stated that no rents have been paid by timoer workers since the commencement of the dispute, and unless the strikers are compensated lor lost; time when the strike is over, none will j lie paid. The procedure followed is j that when a timber worker notifies that his landlord is asking lor a settle- j ment, the disputes committee lias the I house watched by pickets, and the presence of these persons prevents the landlords from taking further steps.
