OHAWE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Owing to the dry weather, there is an extreme shortage of green feed in the district. The vegetable gardens are parched. The tanks are again empty, and this is causing considerable inconvenience at present. There is still a steady flow of visitors to the beach. The weather conditions are ideal for bathing. s One of the fishing boats, the Raurimo, made a trip during the week under the command of Captain Ralia, but a very small catch was made. The owners of the fishing boat Aorangi, Messrs J. Hold ho and Rang! Muramura, have had an engine fitted in the boat, which is being transferred from Oliawe to the Waokino beach. Although numbers of visitors have been fishing from the beach with the rod and line the catches have been extremely small; in fact, this season has been one of the poorest experienced for a number of years. A combined church service was held at the residence of Mr. A. Sorrenson on Sunday evening last. There was a good service of both Maori and pakolui. The service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Curran. Another service will be held on Sunday evening, March 3. at the same place by the Rev. Mr. Curran.
Mr. C. M. Sorenson, of Ilimatangi, is at present on a visit to his family at Ohawe beach and Hawera. Mr. Sorenson was at one time a resident of New Plymouth, but during the last 25 years has been in business at Himatangi. Tt is 14 years since he last visited Hawera. Mr. Sorenson has attained the age of Bfl years, and is still active and enjoying the best of health.
