MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The usual monthly meeting of the executive of the Egmont A. and P. Association was held to-day, when the follow members were present: Messrs W. McL’Dowie, E. A. Washer, H. I. Crocker, F. Gillanders, B. C. Lysaght, S. C. Tonks, J. Forbes, R. McCay, T. Wilson, E. L. Death, N. Crocker, F. Hoskin, C. H. Washer, J. Pettigrew, A. Lankow and F. Mills, jum CORRESPONDENCE. An application for the use of the show grounds on March 2 by the principal of the Hayrera Technical High School for the annual cadet camp was granted. The New Zealand Land Settlement and Development League, wrote requesting the A. and P. Association to ( appoint delegates to attend a conference to be held in Wellington on March : 12. —it was aecided to leave arrangements for representation in the -hands , of the secretary and president. Correspondence was received from the secretary of the Tardnaki Rugby Union enclosing on offer of £SOO, free of interest for 10 years, secured as per proposals placed before the union by - the A. and P. Association -on condition that the debentures were, fully subscribed and conditionally that the A. and P. Association will ’ lease to the Taranaki Rugby Union the ground for a period of ten years for football purposes between the dates of April 1 and October l"”in each year for a fixed rental of £IOO per annum. In addition to the sum of £IOO the union to pay 50 per cent, of the gate rentals of any sports body, except Northern League Rugby, which shall be absolutely debarred. The secretary tabled the following list of rents paid up by the Rugby Union: 1922, £65 12s 6d; 1923, £7B 7s Cd; 1924, £100; 1925, £100; 1926, £123; 1927, £l2l 12 s sd; 1928, £lO2 Is 4d. This worked out at an average rental of £9B 13s 5d per season. The rates on the showgrounds were £124 19s Id. It was resolved to refer the. matter to the executive with power to act, at the same time the chairmand and Mr Tonks appealed to members of the committee to give more support to Mr J. Campbell in furtherance of his scheme. Correspondence 'was received from Messrs A. H. Turnbull and Co. with re- ! ferenec to the “Weddcl Cup,” and the seoretary reported having written a letter of thanks to the donors. GENERAL. Tlie gymkhana committee report was read, and it was decided to adopt the committee’s recommendation with regard to the programme. Tlie following events were included: Pony jump, for ponies 14 hands and under, first prize £2, second £l, third IQs; amateur athletic events, 100 yards, 220 yards, 220 yards for secondary school pupils, 880 yards, one-mile and twomile cycle events, and an exhibition of javelin throwing by S. A. Lay; six motor events, military events, steer riding, and Highland dancing. There was also provision for two fire brigade events. Tlie following officials were appointed for the gymkhana Stewards : Steer riding, Messrs E. A. Washer and D. Crocker; liorse events, Messrs C. H. Washer and N. Crocker; weight judging competition, Messrs G. W. Stubbs and B. C. Gibson; programme sales, Mr, A. Gray; catering arrangements, Mr., T. J. Salmon. Messrs McL’Dowie and Scott were appointed to make arrangements for gatekeepers and ticket-sellers. It was also decided to make application to have a half-holiday declared for the local schools. Accounts totalling £7 6s 3d Were ' passed for payment.
