N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA (J3y Telegraph—Press Association.; PICTON, Peb. 23. Conditions are perfect for the New Zealand championship regatta, which is being held here to-day. The water is perfectly smooth and provided the slight northerly breeze at present prevailing does not freshen, the championship course will be an excellent one and oarsmen will meet under the fairest terms. There is bright sunshine and a large crowd is already gathering. THE SCHOONER ARATAPU. WESTPORT, Feb. 23. Attempts last evening to refloat the auxiliary schooner Aratapu, which is aground at Karamea, were unsuccessful. The deck cargo is being removed to-day and another attempt will be made on to-night’s tide. ACTIVITIES AT BLENHEIM BORE. NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 23. The Blenheim Oil Company officially reported this' morning that boiling and pumping has been continued at the Blenheim bore. A fair amount of oil has been recovered through the seven inch casing since Thursday evening’s report. ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS. WELLINGTON, Feb. 23. Beautiful weather jirevails for the continuation of the New Zealand Athletic championships at the Basin Reserve. A big crowd, is asscmblihg. The tracks are in splendid order and if the competitors run up to form, fast times should be registered. A NURSE MISSING. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 23. Luggage belonging to the missing nurse) Dorothy Margaret Mehaffie lias been found at Arthur’s Pass railway station, but there is no trace yet of the woman.
