WEDDING.

NEWMAN—CRANE. A pretty wedding was celebrated in Okaiawa Methodist Church on Jantiary 30, when Mr “Laurie” Newman was united in matrimony with Miss Annie L. Crane. The officiating minister was Rev. H. C. Orchard, and Mrs Hernsly presided at the organ. The church was nicely decorated by friends of the young couple, and a full church witnessed the ceremony. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of Mr Edgar Penfold, was beautifully attired in a gown of beaded champagne georgette and veil to match. The bridesmaid, Miss Martha E. Soothill., looked very nice in ivory white georgette and headband to match, blisses Dorothy Crosby and Nellie Hernsly, in shell pink crepe de chine, made charming flower girls, and carried baskets of pink flowers. The bride and bridesmaid carried shower bouquets and streamers. The bride’s travelling dress was a navy blue costume, with fox" fur and toque hat. Mrs Crosby, the hostess for the breakfast and aunt of the bridegroom, wore blue silk frere, and Mrs Penfold, senr., grandmother of the groom, wore, black. At the conclusion of tlie ceremony, which was choral, the company adjourned to the Carlton Tea Rooms, where the reception was lield, followed by the wedding breakfast. A liapny hour was spent, and a full toast list given and messages of congratulation received. The presents, which included many from- the Old Country—the home of both groom and bride- —were numerous and costly. The bride’s gift to the groom was a pair of gold cuff links. The groom’s gift to the bride was a gold watch, to the bridesmaid a leather suitcase, and he- presented bracelets to the flower girls. The happy couple left by ear for Wanganui and Palmerston North.
