Two links from the Hawera Park Club visited Auroa. on Wednesday afternoon ,to play a friendly match with the local club. * After a keenly-con-tested game of 25 beads .the Auroa rinks were successful by a narrow margin of four points. After a very keen game the Auroa. Olub proved victorious by 21 points. Thisi win leave® the Auroa CV'ub the champions of the Western Division and winners of the Fox Shield. This is the second successive year the local club has gained! the premiership, and they hope to make a good showing at the divisional play-off at Hawera. Auroa lost one of her earliest settlers with the death of the 'late Mr Benjamin Ogle, of Skeet Road. A long cortege of motor vehicles followed his remains to. the Hawera cemetery last Tuesday, the Rev. H. E. Orchard officiating at the graveside. The deceased was one of the best farmers of the district, being always in harness, and was in the position to reap the reward of his labours when, he .was cut down in his prime. Much sympathy is felt for Mrs Ogle and family in their bereavement, •particularly so as Mrs Ogle is iseriousl'y ill at present. GENERAL. Tbe local Sunday .
