The Committee of Industry and Trade, under the chairmanship of Sir Arthur Balfour has presented majority and minority reports which may lead the Government to change its mind in reference to the proposed new inquiry into the iron and steel industry. It is understood, that the majority report favours a protective tariff, andthat the minority report advocates nationalisation of the industry, with compensation to existing owners.
