OPERA HOUSE. FINALLY - TO-NIGHT. “RED HOT - SPEED. ’ ’ “Reel Hot Speed,” Reginald Denny’s latest farce-comedy, screens finally at the Hawera Opeira House' this evening-. Denny portrays the able of a young assistant district attorney who meets the sweetest girl- in the world under exceptional circumstances, first in a motor-ear collision in which they both express their opinion of each other in heated words, and later in the c-ouirt, where he has 'to bring a- case of speeding against her, and which he does with genuine enthusiasm. * The judge, impressed with the attorney’s tirade, orders' the gin l to he placed' under his surveillance" foir 90 days, much to both the young people’s consternation. Matters' become -complicated when Denny discovers the -girl to he the .daughter of ah old ftiend who is a fanatic against speed ftends. An uproarious series of unique situations follows. Richard Dix, the star of “Sporting Goods” and' ‘‘Easy Come, Easy Go,” will continence a two-night season at the Grand Theatre. Hawera, to-night in .IpA latest effort, “Warmincy Up.” It qonvea-ns the activities and inactivities' of ai young country baseball! player, whose trials and tribulations are not . mimed to the baseball diamond. In fac-t, a large percentage of the actions involve another brand of diamond, one very well known to women. Jean .Arthur, Dix’s leading woman, who plays opposite'the star for the first time, gives a creditable performance in a pleasing role. The, suspense of the plot and the novel twist at the end ane enjoyable. and the mixing of Dix’s hardl 'nick with the absorbing romance is cleverly handled. As the production stands, it gives every indication of care in the handling, a- circumstance that is casilv explained by the names connected with ' it. The supports ineude “Sr-rambled Weddings,” a two reel connedv .Cartoon,'Overseas News, Ausiv.,'ism Gazette, scenic and educational. The orchestra 'will be -in attendance.
