Mr. Irving Glover, second assistant to the Postmaster-General, announced that the order limiting the amount of mail to be carried by the three Cunard vessels lmd been rescinded. Mr. Glover telephoned to the New York postmaster requesting him to lift the embargo. He said that he issued the order as a temporary measure because the Berengaria was late in arriving her© and the other two ships were extremely slow.
Mr. Glover renewed the charge that foreign countries were discriminating against American ships in mail shipments, but said that the department was not at present planning retaliatory measures. However, it was prepared to re-route its entire foreign mail so as to give American vessels a large share of the trade if this European discrimination continued.
