CAMPAIGN AGAINST DRUG TRAFFIC. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (A ustralian Press Association.) SYDNEY, Dec. 22. Arthur Rogers, aged 28, a tailor, was fined £l5O for having cocaine in his Eossession. The police searched his ouse in the city and discovered a quantity of cocaine. A woman was also arrested. The polce are making efforts to suppress the drug traffic in this state. DETENTION OF JUDGMENT DEBTOR. SYDNEY, Dec. 22. Mr Justice Long Innes gave a ruling in the Bankruptcy Court that under a definition in the act, a plaintiff who obtained judgment against another person could keep that person in prison for twelve months. There was no power to release the judgment debtor except at the will of the judgment creditor.
NATIVE POPULATION OF VEST AUSTRALIA.
PERTH, Dec. 22The report of the chief protector of aborigines for the year stated that the estimated native population of the state numbered 25,513, a decrease of only 176 on the previous year. The reports that leprosy and other diseases were prevalent amongst the natives, had not been substantiated by. investigation.
