CHANGED HER MIND.
BRIDE’S BAST MINUTE DECISION
NEW ZEALAND PARTIES CONCERNED.
• Press Association —By Electric i'elegrapt/ Copyright.) . (Australian Press Association.) Received 11.30 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Dec. 19. There was a flutter in society circles at Savoy Church when the fact that the New Zealand bride, Miss Huia Sargood, instead of marrying her announced fiance, Captain Valle Rope, of the Royal Artillery, who took out a license a fortnight ago, married to-day the New Zealander, Lieut. lan Lawrence Mackillop, of the Royal Engineers.
When interviewed the bride said: “The other one is off, I am marrying Lieut. Mackillop,” who interposed saying, “the other announcement was incorrect. ”.
It is understood that Captain Pope told the church authorities as late as Saturday that everything w:as in order, but on Monday, Miss Sargood told them that she was marrying Lieut. Mackillop. She was informed that under the circumstances the old license was invalid, so she paid 54s for a short notice special license. She is a grand daughter of the late Sir Frederick Sargood.
