NUISANCE AT HOSPITAL.
DAMAGE BY STOCK
USE OF “CLOSED” ROUTE
“Cattle driven along Hunter Street have on more than one occasion entered the hospital grounds and done more or less damage ,’ stated a ieix) rt received by the Hawera Hospital board yesterday from the secretary (Mr C M. Haggett). “I understand that the Hawera County Council lias closed Hunter Street as a stock route. I suggest, therefore, that- it may be advisable, with a view to reducing the nuisance, to ask the council to elect notices stating that Hunter Street is closed fo cattle driving.” Mr. E. A. Washer stated that a stock route notice appeared at the tVaihi Road intersection, which was the next corner to Hunter Street on the Main South Road. Replying to the chairman (Mr. J. S. McKay), Mr. Washer said there was no sign calling particular attention to Hunter Stieet. On the motion of Mr. T. A. Winks, seconded by Mr. F. Gillanders, it was decided to‘request the County Council to take the action suggested in the secretary’s report.
