AUROA BRANCH
IMPORTANT WORK DISCUSSED
There was a- good attendance of members at the ordinary meeting of the Auroa branch of the Farmers’ Union on Saturday, Mr. E. Aroa (president) in the chair. After some discussion, Messrs F. Aroa, W. Hudson, Tl. Buxton, and E. L. Bighum were appointed delegates to the conference to be held shortly to discuss the combined show between Auroa, Otakeho-, and Awatuna. Mr. Aroa expressed surprise that the Awatuna committee had decided to debar winners at A. and P. -shows from competing at the combined show, tor ho believed in getting the very best to compete. Mr. Buxton agreed, stating that if they could get a- strong combined show it would help their local shows. ; A special prize was offered -by Mr. Aroa for the combined show, and be suggested also approaching the dairy companies and firms interested in the industry for support. It was reported that the membership of the men’s branch was 72 and the women’s branch .34. Acknowledgment was received from the (secretary of the boys and girls’ clubs of the donation of £3 made by (be Auroa branch. It was suggested that a- lecture by some qualified man be arranged for in the near future. In regard to the root-growing competitions it was decided to hold over the entries until the end of January.
