A. AND P. SHOW GROUNDS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —As a. visitor to the recent Egmojiit A. a,lid P. Show I was much impressed with the exceptionally fine grounds belonging to- the Show Association. These 'grounds are ideally si'tuatecVfor use, not only by the- A. and P. Association., but for all general recreational purposes, and they will be of incalculable value in itlic years to come to the people of Hawcra and the surrounding districts. All communities fully recognise nowadays .the need for open spaces in towns —the need for providing ample playing areas for the people. The neglect to. make such provision in the early days hais led in many towns in this Dominion to the expenditure to-day of large sums of money in an endeavour to remedy the omission. I wais pleased to learn that a determined .effort to save the Hawcra Show Ground's for public use was being well supported, and I sincerely trust that the people of the whole district will fully realise their responsibilities and give the effort their financial support. No greater harm could be done to the town of Hawcra than would bo caused by the loss to the public of this wonderful area df ground.—l am, etc., AUCKLANDER.
