Already the demand —of film financiers—for talking films has reversed the fortunes of a number of film players. Conrad Nagel, who has been found to have vocal ability, is reported tq be in great favour. Gladys Brock well, who was famous in former days, is likely to become a star qnee again. Irene Rich has achieved success in talking films. Others whose voices appear to have satisfied the American public are May McA.voy and Betty Bronson. So far, however, few pro(,luctrs except Warner Brothers, have released their talking films.
“The Cossacks” promises to. be as great a success in New Zealand as it. is proving in Australia. It played a big business simultaneously at the Plaza and Tivoli theatres, Auckland, on the occasion of its premiere in the Dominion.
