BOWLING.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BOWLING. The Hawera and Manaia bowlers met at Manaia yesterday in the shield match, which resulted in a win for Hawera by 1.0 points. The green was in excellent order. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies. The following were the scores, Manaia players being mentioned first: v Hickey, Spooner, Smith, H. Christie, 21.; Winks, Hicks, Adamson, Squire, 26. Watts, Hornby, Badley, Andrews, 25; Ashton, Tidswell, Robertson, Robb, 17. Meuli, Lewin, Johnson, J. Christie, 15; Herbert, Hodge, Linkhoru, Foy, 28. Totals, 61 and 71. MATRICULATION EXAMINATION. The Manaia district high school is well represented at the matriculation examination at present in progress in Hawera. Seven candidates have entered, namely, Misses Ena Nairn, Edna Dakers, and Mary Sproull; Masters AVilliam Dakers, Douglas Buyter, Roy Young, and Russel Hammonds.
