SURPLUS EXPECTED IN 1929

WASHINGTON, Dec. 5. The 1930 Budget has been submitted to Congress by President Ooolidge. The estimated receipts will be 3,841,000,000 dollars, and the expenditure 3,780,000,000 dollars. The largest items of expenditure are 597,000,000 dollars for the War Veterans' Bureau, 349,000,000 for the Navy Department, 444,000.000 for the War Department. Tlie President pointed out that while it had been feared 1929 would show a deficit of 94,000,000 dollars, it was now estimated that- there would be a surplus for 1929 of 36,000,000 dollars, due to larger returns from revenue than expected.
