RETURNED' SOLDIERS’ PROJECT
GIFTS FOR CHILDREN
Children of returned soldiers of the South Taranaki district are to be entertained at a Christmas tree gathering m tne Soldiers’ Club, Hawera, on December 17. Decision tq organise tlie gathering was made at a meeting of the club social committee on Monday evening when there were present: Messrs Jlector Briggs, M. Squires, L. 1. Matter and E. H. Piper. “Father Christinas'' is to be requested to attend in person and distribute gifts from the magical tree tq attendants of 12 years of age and under. Admission to all ex-diggers and their families will be free, together with presents for the juveniles. In order that arrangements may be made to provide gifts for all, parents intending to be present with children are requested to obtain tickets which will be available free of charge on application at Mr Marter’s cycle shop, in Union Street, or to other members of the committee. The gathering will be the first of its kind to be organised by ex-diggers in the district and, so far as is known, will be the first in the Dominion..
