OMINOUS CRACKS FOUND.
STRENGTHENING FOUNDATIONS,
PAPAL AUTHORITIES ALARMED

The Vatican authorities are alarmed at the situation created by the collapse of two floors in quarters occupied by the Papal Guards. An engineer and an architect, following an examination, found it necessary to immediately strengthen the foundation of the palace itself, as ominous cracks were discovered in other parts.
