The Soviet has degraded fourteen professors, members of the Academy of Science and residents of Leningrad, for defaming the . Soviet regime abroad by participation in a volume devoted to archaeology of art published in Prague and especially resenting the academician Zhebeleff writing a biography of the archaeologist Smirnoff, who died in 191 S, declaring: “He is fortunate in dying then, because lie has avoided the evil of the decade.”
