KAPONGA CYCLE RACE.

WATSON CUP SERIES. WILLIAMS LEADS ON POINTS. Seveni riders fated the starter for the fifth event in the Watson Cup series on Saturday last. The course of approximately 44 miles was laid, oyer the Manama and. Main South Roads it© Opunafce, thence through Mangaihume, Te Kiri, Awatruna, Riv erica, and back to the starting point at Kaponga. Very good eonditionis prevailed, married only by a slight head wind on certain stretches between Manaia and Opuna’ke. E. Aroa (2min.), A. Gargan (5 min.), and R. Hosie (15min.) were nonstarters. A. Aroia and N. Adlaim, the actual limit men, on 12 minutes, maintained the lead until nearing Opumake, when Aroa : drew anvay and was never headed, riding through Te Kiri 3J minutes in advance of H. Thorpe, G. Williams and E. Watson, who were followed two minruites later by H. W. Boeock. L. Gargan and Acllam were two minutes behind Bocock, who caught Thorpe Williams, and Watson at Awofuma, from which point they kept together as far as Kaponga, with the exception of Thorpe, who dropped behind at Riverlea. A spirited sprint for the finish resulted in Williams beating Bocock by a wheel, with Watson a length behind an fourth place. Good times were registered, H. W. Bocock*s (1 hour 54min. 38 l-ssee.) being the best. The race resulted as follows 1 : A. Aroa (12min.), 2hrs lmin 28sec 1 G. Williamsi ( 9miju), 2lies lmim 3Ssec 2 11. W. Bocock (2min), lmin 54xnin 38 l-ssec 3 E. Watson (7anin), lhr 59min 39see 4 controlling the race were Messrs R. J. Payne (starter and timekeeper), G. W. S. Bell, W. Carrington and W. J. Noonan (judges). The final event in the series will be ridden on Saturday next, after which it is proposed to. defer racing for a short period before commencing a further scries for club trophies. LEADERS FOR WATSON CUP. The positions of the leaders for the Watson Cup are: G. Williams 11 points, H. Thorpe 10, H. W. Bocock 9, L. Gargain 9, N. Adlaui 7, E. Watson 6.
