SANDSTAR, foaled 1921, is a bay horse standing 16.2 high and is of a" beautiful temper and constitution. No thoroughbred seen south of the line has, or had, a stouter strain of blood than Sandstar. His grandsire on the male side i.Rock Sand, and on the dam’s side Bright Steel. His great grandsires were “Sanfoin” and Henry of Nav arre” (sires side), and St. Simon and Positano (dam’s side). These are name? to conjure with and columns could bowritten of the performances of the pro geny of the great sires named. SANDSTAR, during his short stay on the turf, was a successful performer, also his sire, Sands of The Orient, and his grandsire, Rock Sand, who won the Derby and .St. Leger and Two Thousand Guineas in England. Sandstar broke his fetlock joint and-only raced on ten occasions, twice as a two-year-old, being unplaced, eight times as a three-year-old, being placed on every occasion, winning five, also once second and twice third. The races he won included: Kensington Handicap, Whangarei, 0 furlongs; Normanby Plate, Auckland of 400 sovs, 1 mile; Christmas llandi cap, Auckland, of 600 sovs, 1 mile; Stewards’ Handicap, Auckland, 600 sovs, 6 furlongs; Autumn Handicap. Avondale, 600 sovs, 9 furlongs; second to Surveyor at Takapuna in the Borough Handicap, 7 furlongs; third at Takapuna in the Ngataringa Welter, 7 furlongs; being beaten by Spoony and Raeeful; third at Te Aroha in the Hot Springs Handicap, beaten by Regent and Steel Bar. Sandstar and Bisogne are No. 18 sires, St. Evelyn being the granddam of Bisogne and the great granddam of Sandstar. Sandstar’s first foals are now yearlings, arid they point to him becoming a great sire, and sure foal-getter. TERMS: Single Mares. 25 guineas; two or more mares, as arranged.
