SALVATION ARMY TENNIS COURT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A new departure as far a.s the salvation Army is concerned is the ipening of a tennis court in connection vith the Eltliam corps. A c-lub has >een formed amongst the members ana idherents of the army and already the nembe-rship is fairly large. The opening of the conn took place in Thursday afternoon. Adjutant Rogon. of the Roys-’ Home, ras to have performed the .opening ereimmy. but owing to- receipt of bad Lews from his liome in Queensland, he rats prevented from officiating. Ihej lavor (Mr I. J. Bridget), who was ire sent, waft asked to perform the cerenony, and in doing so-, said that he was ;lad to see that the Salvation Army 'ad at 1 ask come to see the necessity of ncouraging their members, especially he young members,. tQ take some in merest in the various games that- proid e recreation and, help, to build charqter. He hoped that spirit would be ev eloped and that other brandies uc-li as croquet would be introduced, nd wished the club every success and
declared the court open for the season. Mr W. Reid, president of the cliih thanked the Mayor for liis action iu opening the court and for his good wishes.
