ENGLISH PLAYERS LEAVE FOR AUSTRALIA. fbv Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 0. The British tennis team left by the Marama this afternoon for 'Sydney to commence its Australian tour ot three ■months. Three weeks will also be spent in ‘South Africa before returning to England. In a farewell message the manager, Mr 11. Anthony 'Sabelli, who is also an official representative Lawn Tennis Association at Home, said: “I wish to express great appreciation of the arrangements made by the Nelw Zealand Lawn Tennis Association and by the associations in Wellington, Auckland, Canterbury and Rotorua in connection with our matches, and the comfort and entertainment during our visit. We wish to thank most sincerely the officials, private individuals, players, and the public for their very kind reception of us on all occasions. Nobody could have wished for more enthusiastic spectators or more sporting opponents. We have two regrets, that the. match at Wellington fell through owing to the truly appalling weather, and that our visit to New Zealand was so short. Good-bye and good luck to all.” r :, Mr Sabelli was disinclined fro eom■jfi'ent upon the relative styles and standards of play at Home and in the Dominion. It was “not his job.” He realised that New Zealanders thus early in the season could not be expected to produce their highest form. They certainlv knew the game, but lacked experience of all stylos of play. It was with the object of securing wider experience that the '.British team was sent abroad.
