Sir, —I notice that in Mr. Hawlien’s addresses he has iterated and reiterated the statement that it would be useless to send an independent to Parliament as such a member would “get nowhere.” Since Mr. Hawken also disclaimed any indulgence in “legnumeraries •to assist in applause,. etc. tive assumption that if the candidate selected by' the people is not suitable to the Government the electorate will be disfranchised? —I am, etc., WONDERING.
