LAVA STILL FLOWING. TWO MORE TOWNS MENACED MA SC ALT WIPED OUT. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) Received 2.30 p.m. to-day. ROME, Nov. 8. Lava .is rushing on renroreal-eesly, with no signs of abatement. It is becoming hotter and more liquid. Mas cal i is now completely obliterated, the last sound from the doomed town being the mournful tolling of the bells as tine belfry swayed violently before its collapse. After overwhelming Ala.sca.li, the lava split up into three streams. Two of these later re-united and are nmv advancing at approximately 75 yards per hour on the important centres of Gia.rre and 1 Reofreddo, which have been partially eA'a cu ate d. The third stream is on the point of wiping .out the small vllage of Carrabba. which has already been deserted. Trenches have been dug and barriers thrown up in the hope of diverting the mass from Giarre. The best and most fertile districts are definitely threatened.
