Captain Hurley. • left Batavia this morning for Burma accompanied by a Dutch aeroplane carrying a mail to Holland. Leaving Sourabaya at 12.15 (local time) yesterday, Captain Hurley arrived at Batavia, at 4.45 and made a fresh start before six this, morning. He crossed the third point at Banka_ at 9.45 and passed the South Djambi River at 11 Captain Hurley radioed liis thanks to the commander of military aviation at Hooksmadegroot for the assistance afforded him. ITe expects to. land at Singapore at 2.30 to-day. A. la ter message from Singapore stated that* Captain Hurley, following the Sumatra coast, was 200 miles off Singapore afi noon and was suffering from strong winds and heavy clouds.. At 12.45 pan. he asked Singapore lor smoke signals. . He reached the landing ground at 1.20 and leaves for Victoria Point at daybreak to-morrow. A WINDY TRIP. ' Received 10.35 a.m. to-day. SINGAPORE. Nov. 7. Captain Hurley arrived at 1.30 tins afternoon. He said it was rather .windy over the Timor Sea., although the weather was fine, but they had become used to it now. They preferred flying over the sea because it- was calmer. They leave to-morrow for Victoria Point.
