RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. (By Teiagrapn —Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 30. The weather was fine but a trifle cold for early work at Riccarton, but heavy rain fell during the breakfast interval, making conditions unpleasant for the few horses who worked afterwards. The outside of the course proper provided good going. Rabbi beat Freeze Out over six furlongs/ in 1.17. Childsplay, with Impertinence as a mate over the last half-mile, covered seven furlongs in 1.30 1-5. Impertinence hadi a neck advantage at the finish. . Paperchase ran seven -furlongs m L3O 2-5. Broadmoor covered a mile Lucky Light doing it in 1.48 2-5. Phillippic .occupied 1.34 for ail easy seven furlongs. Rosorea, Prickles, and Full Feather ran nine furlongs. Roscrea beat Prickles by a length and a half, with Full Feather five lengths away. The time was 1.58 2-s—a smart gallop. Commendation registered 1.30 for seven furlongs, while Silver Paper did better than that. Starshooter did a mile in 1.47 2-5. Noteworthy led Silver Coot for a six furlongs spin in 1.19 3-5. Goblin Market sprinted half a mile in 52sec. ' ■ First Sight occupied 1.31 3-5 for seven furlongs. _ Chelone did six furlongs in 1.17 3-5. Dutch Money finished three lengths in front of Sir Roland 1 after doing half a mile in 49 4-ssec. Admiral Drake beat Cossack Chief, with False Scent several lengths away, in a snrint down the straight.

Quarterdeck beat Swoopalon-g over seven furlongs in 1.32. Stately occupied 52 l-ssec for a half-mile sprint, Pride taking _s3Jsec. Sunny Hal beat Count Palatine over half a mile in 51sec. Belcaire and Lute, sprinting, did half a mile in 50 l-ssec, Belcaire finishing a length in front. Star Stranger, Battle .Colours, Beacon Light and Rapier galloped, a mile and a quarter. Star Stranger took the lead early, followed by Rapier and Battle Colours, with Beacon Light last. Star Stranger heat Rapier by two lengths, Battle Colon re being four lengths away, with Beacon Light six lengths further hack. Star Stranger’s time was 2.12. Golden Armour oovered six furlongs comfortably in 1.18 3-5.

Pink Note, Hovlake, and* Shining Armour were to have gone a mile and a quarter together, hut Hovlake _ wais in a; niggish mood and refused to jump off, the other pair going without him. Pink Note always held, the advantage, and* finished an easy winner by three lengths in 2.15.

King Midas moved freely in ai useful half-mile.

Hoylake, after giving trouble, eventually went off alone for a mile and a quarter. He showed temper in the early stages, but did the full journey in 2.10 3-5. He finished on strongly. Honour heat Jaleux in a sprint down the straight. Amor occupied 1.35 for seven furlongs. , Mandane covered a mile and a quarter in 2.12 2-5. Front Rank and Teri were evenly matched in a-, mile, taking 1.44 3-5. Money Order, with a light-weight, ran six furlongs in 1.16 2-5. Laughing Prince and Cashier kept close company all through a mile gallop, which was run in 1.44 4-5. After breakfast Set Sail and.’ Lucy Locket were companions over a mile and a quarter. They occupied 2.24 o.ver the journey, but were going comfortably all the way. Solrose galloped a male in 1.47 2-5, Booster accompanying her over the first half-mile in 53sec. ' Camisader was in, front of Phastar at the end of half a mile in 54sec, but both could have done better. Stealth and Franeolin were not extended over half a mile in 54sec. Sir Roy ran clown from the half-mile comfortablv.

HAWERA TRACK NOTES. (By “Limited.”) Rain interfered' with training operations this morning, the only gallops of importance being between Partaga and Benzora, and Reremoana and Plying Binge. 0. Jackson’s pair went on the plough, which was a bit holding, over six .furlongs. Hopping off smartly, they ran down the back to the three furlongs post in 38sec., the half-mile being covered in 51 A, finishing the full journey in 1.19£. Both horses finished well, with Benzora a neck in front. Reremoana and Hying Binge went five furlongs together on the trial grass track, which also was a bit on the slow side. The pair kept together throughout the gallop, .running their first three furlongs in 37-fsec. and finishing up in 1.5. Reremoana shaped well, and if the going is to his liking at Riecarton lie should perform well. Benzora, Partaga, and Reremoana, in charge of their trainers, C. Jackson and O. Cox, go south by to-morrow’s mail train. J. Brown with Silvermine and Silver Rule, W. Pine with Calamine and Denier, left yesterday morning and were due to arrive at Riecarton today. A. ilcCormac also went south to ride at the meeting. Sovena has quite recovered from the knock she gave herself prior to the Waverley meeting and was out exercising this morning.
