CURRIE LIBEL CASE.
APPEAL DISMISSED. WIN FOR CANADIAN COMMANDER. (Australian T*rese Association —United Service.} Received 11.30 a.m. to-day. OTTAWA, Oct. 29. A Toronto message reports that, without calling upon counsel for Sir Arthur Currie, the Divisional Court today dismissed the appeal by W. T. R. Preston and F. W. Wilson from’ the verdict of a Cobourg jury awarding the commander of the Canadian Corps 500 dollars damages foe libel. The court agreed that nothing had occurred warranting a new trial. _ The only error was that the trial judge had allowed too much latitude to counsel for the defendants.
General Currie sued for 50,000 dollars damages on an article 'published by Wilson, sponsored by Preston, criticising the commander’s leadership in FTance.
