LORD DEWAR’S EPIGRAMS.
A NEW COLLECTION. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) —United Service). Received 12.20 p.m. to-day. LONDON, Oat. 23. Lord Dewar, who is famous for aftermeal epigrams, has coined a new collection on “Alan’s Anthem—Woman.’’ Toasting the ladies at the Poultry Club’s banquet, h» said: “The world needs more permanent wives and less permanent waves. It is woman’s duty to provide for the inner man and man’s duty to provide for the outer woman. A man should be judged' by his wife's c’othes, which cost more than those in the Garden of Eden, but aren’t worth it. Brevity is the soul of this frock business. Women display moire backbone than men. When a man bears his shoulders .ho catches cold; when a' gjiirl bares her shoulders she catches a husband. Some mothers’ lives are one darned 1 stocking after another.-’
