SAFETY IN COAL MINES.

ANGLO-FRENCH RESEARCH WORK. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. Oct. 20. Tlie British Government recently made proposals to the French Government for a scheme of co-operation between official organisations in the two countries which are engaged in research work directed towards securing greater safety in coal mining. These proposals have been cordially accepted and the scheme is now to be put in •operation. . On the British side technical arrangements will he in the hands of the Safety in Mines Research Board. They will include a full interchange of information acquired by accident prevention research and experience in the two countries, including unpublished as well as published reports. •. The respective research organisations will mutually agree which problems each could best study alone and which could more effectively be studied jointly. By this means it should he possible to save money and to expedite the work. There will probably be also an occasional interchange of skilled research workers far work requiring special experience.
