OFFICIAL FORECAST. (From •!- p.m. yesterday.) Moderate to strong northerly winds of gale force may be expected at many places, backing to westerlies and later to south-westerlies, says the forecast. Seas will be rough south of Cape Egmoutli and rising elsewhere in New Zealand waters. Strong north winds to gale, backing to south-west wish generally rough seas in the. eastern Tasman Sea, are expected. The weather will be cloudy, unsettled and squally, with general rain developing, manv heavy falls and some snow on the ‘high lands of the Scnith Islam 1. There will be mild temperatures at first but a cold change setting in from the south soon.
