MR. LLOYD OEOROE.
ATTENDS RACE MEETING FOR FIRST TIME.
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Oct. 17. For -the first' time in his life Mr. Lloyd George, the Liberal leader, today attended a race meeting. He was staying near Newmarket as the guest of 'Lord St. Davids, and- took the opportunity to go with his host to the Newmarket meeting. The big autumn handicap, known as the Cesarewitch, was the chief item in the programme. Mr. Lloyd George showed, great interest in the proceedings both in the paddock and on the racecourse, hut declined to make a bet, though many 1 wok makers were willing to give him generous odds. To Press interviewers he defended his presence on the racecourse by saying be believed that anything which played so great a part in the social life of the nation as horse racing demanded his attention.
