Viscount Lascelles has intimated to the Ereo State Government that Princess Mary and he deeply regretted even indirectly causing suffering to anyone' in Ireland, and therefore hoped that a way would be found whereby no vindictive action would be taken against the misguided persons suspected of starting the fire at Portumna Castle. These persons' might have considered that the visit of Viscount Lascelles had a political significance.
