Mr J. W. Harrison and Mrs Harrison, of FJ!th ntm, who have been spending n« holiday in England, have returned to Kith am. Sergeant-Major Geo. Quayle, of the local defence staff, has received notice that he lias passed his examination for warrant officer. Home and Australian papers record the great success in comic opera of Mr. Lance Fairfax, who was with J. C. Williamsons Gilbert and. Sullivan Company last year. Mr. Fairfax, who is a brother of Mrs. W. Cate, of Hawera, achieved “a personal triumph,” says a critic, “for he was a romantic and dominating figure as the Bed Shadow in “The Desert Song,” -having. it is added, “a very difficult role to fill.”
