WEAR ON PROPELLERS.

CHANGE TO BE MADE. EFFECT OF TASMAN STORMS. So great was the wear on the propellers of the Southern Cross on the flight from Australia that before the machine leaves Blenheim on the . return journey the present ‘ ’props” will be taken olf and those that were used on the flight from America to Australia will be restored. The propellers are now in Blenheim. The' original propellers were taken off the machine before the flight to New Zealand, after having been used for over 7030 miles’ flying. The new propellers were in much worse condition after covering the 1660 miles across the Tasman than the old ones, thus testifying to the stormy conditions that were experienced. When the original propellers were removed from the machine it was intended that two of them should be sent back to- America to the Westinghouse Company’s museum, and that the third should be cut in two, each of the co-cdinmanders keeping one blade as a souvenir. This will probably be done when the Southern Cross returns to Sydney.
