The six monthly Treasury returns are a,s follow: Revenue, £312,425,0CX), am compared with £328,587,000 last year; expenditure, £388,393,000, as compared with £384,757,000, a deficiency of £75,967,000. as compared with £56,169,000 last year,* > The principal decrease was in income tax, which dropped from £70,529,000 to £55,231,000. but death duties' were unexpectedly bouyant, and yielded £51,750,000 as compared with. £35,050,000 for last year, though the Chancellor anticipated a decrease. £fe is budgeting for £72,000,000 for the complete year.
