The- real business of the New Zealand ladies’ golf championship meeting commenced this mbrtiing, when the first round bf'Mie championship was decided. The weather conditions were- good. The holder of the title, Mrs- H. Collin soil-; is hot present, but the runner-up, 'Miss B. Culling, is taking part in the touriianient. Among other noted players taking part are Mirs. Guy Williams, whose cards this season, however, • were• not good enough to secure her place ip tlie North Island team, although sh«f lias won the New Zealand championship on several occasions- and the Australian championship once. There- ’are also several -provincial tournament winners taking part. These -include Miss - MiPa vt-on and Miss O. Kay. 1 There werA no surprises during the play in the first tound.
