Lambing is now* Well under way throughout the Hawke’s Bay district, arid, with a plentitude of feed apparent on all rides, both ewes and ’their offsprings are generally in fine fettle. Numbers of sturdy lambs with their mothers are to be seen in paddocks adjoining arterial roads at the present time and farmers in .'this district are well contented with the percentages promised. Some particularly fine lambs are to' he seen in the Maraekakaho area, where the feed is particularly plentiful, although much of the lambing is late. Farmers in several areas on ‘the southern east coast have experienced a considerable amount of mortality this year, and the lambing generally is not ,up to the standard: set further north. Much of the trouble ori the coast district- can be put down to bad weather conditions.
