INQUIRY INTO OPIUM SMOKING. (British Official Wireless.) .RUGBY. Sept, 2A The League Assembly yesterday adopted the report of Dame Edith Lyttelton, the British woman delegate, proposing a commission of inquiry into opium smoking in the Far East. She explained that many Governments, -such as the British, French and Dutch, found it impossible to control opium consumption in their Eastern territories on account of the enormous volume of smuggled prepared opium. The purpose of the inquiry was to establish the facts on which action could be based. It was honed the United States Governmen't would permit an inquiry in the Philipines, which was the only place where the complete prohibit tion was in force.
