CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS BALL (From Our Own Correspondent.) The children’s fancy dress ball, which was held on Friday evening, proved, a huge success. There were visitors from many parts of surrounding districts, nil of whom seemed to have a most enjoyable time, although the dancing room was rather cramped. Much credit is due to the teachers who had trained the children for this special occasion. The programme consisted of folk and ballroom dancing, including the maypole dance. Taylor (Sailor). % During the evening Mr. Neilson (president of the ' Taranaki Rugby Union) presented the shield to the | school football team. Master A. j Ho skin (captain) suitably replied. | Another pleasing . feature was provided hy Miss Margaret Lawrence, who- danced a Highland fling to the accompaniment of the bagpipes, played by Mr. Hamilton. The children held the floor until 10 p.m.. when a daintv slipper was served by the ladies’ committee. Hanciiig was continued until the early hours of the morning to the strains of Coburn’s Star Orchestra.
