A fly-catching competition for school children ha® ‘been suggptsed to the Otago Education Board by a Dunedin lady, who forwarded: £lO to a meeting of the board as it prize to the, city school which catches: the heaviest weight of flies. The chairman said: that such competitions Hind been held in America, and some of the schools had returned enormous weights. When several members joked’ about the proposal, the chairman, reminded the board that the offer was mode quite seriously. He asked what they were going to do with the £lO. It wa»9 ctecidcd to write to the Headmasters’ Association to see if its members were prepared to carry out the 'scheme, and if they were. agreeable to -accept ifche money. -
