. EXHIBITION OFFER, TO PRIME MINISTER. VOLUNTARY SCREENING OF QUOTA. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. On the subjedb of the _ Government Cinematograph Films Bill, Mr J. Robertson secretary of the New Zealand Exhibitors’ Association, said that whilerthey did not welcome the Government’s interference with the business, they had recognised that the aim of the Government wajs legitimate and reasonable and from a- national viewpoint desirable. “The Prime Minister has recognised that the exhibitors are meeting him fai-rlv and he has readily accepted an offer by the association to the effect) that if the Government would suspend the operation of the compulsory quota clause, the exhibitors would voluntarily screen the quota of the Bill. It is understood that the failure 'to do so will bring the compulsory clause?' into operation.” ■Mr Robertson wais sure that the British film industry could supply a good quality of pictures, ko meet the demand.
