Feeling the judge’s .methods were open to criticism, the burgomaster lodged a complaint just in time as the ardent criminal investigator, scenting danger, ordered the arrest of the burgomaster and the chief of police toil suspicion that, -they also were implicated in the conspiracy. The local -police, however, refused to execute the warrant, giving -their superiors- time to supersede Stahlberg, who has been ordered to take prolonged leave. of absence to recuperate his health. All .the accused were released, as it was proved the youth committed suicide.
