After the telegraph closed:, discussion on the Licensing ' Bill continued, the Speaker having ruled that a portion of Mr J. Bitchener’s amendment should he first put. That was clone and; a. discussion was taken on whether the first portion of the clause proposed to be struck out should.' stand. !v 43 to 30 the words were struck out. This then allpwed ’Mr H. M. Campbell to move to substitute the 524 per | cent, for the 55 per cent, majority pro- • xxs?d in the Bill, but this also was defeated by 42 to 29. . ' The clause as amended by Mr Bitchon<?r confirming the hare majority wasthen agreed to, after a. further division, by 42 to 30.
